Ouranoupoli, the small atmospheric town that separates Mount Athos from the land of the worldly, living under the aura of special and traditional beauty. Its visitors fall in love with it and year after year they are an indispensable part of it.
Inside the settlement, a beautiful story unfolds within its Tower, with exhibits and a rare collection of woven, expensive items from the Loch couple who inhabited the Tower until 1982.
Below the Tower, in the harbour, boats depart daily to take pilgrims to Mount Athos and tourists on a cruise around the peninsula.
Just outside the settlement, Moni Zygou, an ancient monastery, located right on the border, but also accessible to women. The representations, mosaics and exhibits give a picture of the monasteries of Mount Athos.Across from Ouranoupoli, a cluster of small exotic islands, Drenia, a favourite spot for tourists, is ideal for swimming, fishing and diving in turquoise waters, while next to them floats Ammouliani, the only inhabited island of Halkidiki. Captain's houses, taverns and magnificent beaches at every point, is the landmark of the maritime area.
In the surrounding area we highly recommend a visit to Ancient Stagira, the birthplace of the ancient philosopher Aristotle, the colorful traditional settlement of Arnaia with its museums and the Metropolitan Church of Agios Stefanos, the interactive Park of Aristotle in Stagira, and other places you will discover with us during your stay at Hotel Theopisti.
